Music Instruction

Build the skills to make music your own.

I help students connect practical technique with listening, theory, creativity, and the music they genuinely want to play.

Approach

Clear fundamentals, individual direction

Lessons are shaped around each student's goals while building durable skills in technique, rhythm, ear training, reading, theory, and efficient practice. Students can follow a traditional performance path, learn songs they care about, write original music, or combine performance with recording and production. My goal is not only to teach students what to practice, but also how to learn, solve problems, and become increasingly self-sufficient.

Student Outcomes

Progress that builds independence

I have prepared students for recitals, school ensemble advancement, Georgia Honor Orchestra, Georgia All-State Orchestra, and youth-orchestra auditions. I have also helped students complete their first original songs, understand how their favorite music works, and develop the confidence and problem-solving skills to keep learning on their own.

Background

Teacher, composer, and working multi-instrumentalist

I hold a Master of Music in Composition from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Music in Composition and Music Technology from LaGrange College. My teaching experience includes Music & Arts, Atlanta School of Musical Arts, Eclectic Music, university teaching, ensemble coaching, and private instruction.

Continuing to perform and record keeps my teaching grounded in active creative work. In May 2026, I performed violin and cello in a video-game music set for Accordionology's World Accordion Day celebration in Decatur.
